Team Utrecht wins the SUSA Cup!

After six Dutch Student Championships (NSKs), it is now clear who has won the SUSA Cup for 2017-2018. Utrecht has been crowned best student sports city in the Netherlands!
More than 1,200 students from 16 different student cities were given the opportunity to show what they were made of through six sporting disciplines. This season, the disciplines were as follows: bouldering, stagedancing, indoor athletics, tennis, gymnastics and rowing. During these six NSKs, which were made possible by the SSN, local student sports clubs and main sponsor SUSA, an organisation that helps students find part-time jobs, teams could score points towards the SUSA Cup. The winner was the city that delivered the best performance and earned the highest score.
Nijmegen, Amsterdam and Utrecht were close competitors for a long time, but after the all-important NSK Rowing Championships, Utrecht took the SUSA Cup for 2017-2018. The cup was received by six members of the Utrecht Sports Council. 'As a Sports Council, we invested a lot of time in this. I started working on players at the start of the season, telling them what was at stake and how awesome it would be to win,' says events officer John Nguyen. 'But really, this victory is thanks to our sports clubs and societies. They were really up for it and fielded fantastic teams.' The Sports Council also received €1,500 to promote student sport at local level.
Sporting achievements were of a very high level, but it would not be a student championship without some beers to conclude the event. The SUSA Cup award ceremony marks the end of this sporting season. The competition will continue after the summer
